The best hockey player of India, 'Major Dhyanchand Singh', was born on 29 August 1905 in Allahabad city. After getting essential instruction, Dhyanchand joined the Indian armed force as the fighter in 1922 at the age of 16. His Original Name was Dhyan Singh but after the extraordinary performance in hockey famous as Dhyan Chand. He waited for the rising Moon In the night for practising. That's why he called "Chand" and Dhyan Singh change into Dhyan Chand.

Because of his remarkable performance in his game, Dhyanchand was named as ' Lance Naik' in 1927, and in 1932 he was promoted to Nayak and Subedar in 1936 when he was Captain of the Indian hockey group. Later on, he proceeded to become Lieutenant; Captain and was in the long run elevated to Major.

The Hockey Wizard had led India to Three Gold medal in Olympic games in the following years– 1928, 1932 and 1936. He had scored over 400 goals in 22 years, crossing from 1926 to 1948. 

He was awarded by the third-highest civilian honour, Padma Bhushan in 1956 as the best player all time.
