National Mountain Climbing Day

Every year on 1st August National Mountain Climbing Day is celebrated. It is said that the day was founded in honour of the author's son, Bobby Mathews, and his friend Josh Madigan, for successfully climbing the 46 High Peaks of New York State's Adirondack Mountains.

Yorkshire Day

This day is observed in the memory of a historic English country named as Yorkshire. In the previous years, this is observed by the Yorkshire Ridings Society in 1974.

Raksha Bandhan

Raksha Bandhan is an auspicious festival that is celebrated on the full-moon day of the Hindu Month of Sravana which usually comes on last month of July and start of August. this time it falls on the 3rd of August.

4 AUGUST-

 U.S. Coast Guard Day

This day is observed as the establishing day of the U.S. Coast Guard and also praises the contributions of Coast Guards. The importance of this day holds a very significant part in U.S. Armed Forces.

6 AUGUST-

Hiroshima Day

On August 6, 1945, due to a nuclear bomb attack, a whole city of Hiroshima in Japan was devastated and thousands of people lost their lives. Hiroshima Day is celebrated on August 6 in the memorial of those who lost their lives on this unfortunate day, decades ago.

Teej ( In India)

Teej is one of the music festivals of India, which is celebrated by all the ladies and girls. Teej features absolute grandeur and glory. Mostly girls and women dress up in green and dance and sing.

Quit India Movement Day

Another name used for this day is August Kranti Diwas. This day is observed in the memory of the Quit India movement that shows off the greatest struggle of freedom fighters.

9 AUGUST-

Nagasaki Day

Counted in the list of important days in August 2020 is the Nagasaki Day. This day is celebrated every year on August 9 and is dedicated to those people who lost their lives in the nuclear attack by America in 1945.

 International Day of the World's Indigenous Peoples 

Every year International Day of the World's Indigenous Peoples is observed on 9 August to support people from around the world to increase the UN's message on the protection and promotion of the rights of indigenous peoples.

Krishna Janamashtmi

Janamashtmi is one of the auspicious festivals of India which is mostly praised by Hindus all over the world. The day is celebrated to memorialise the birthday of Hindu God Lord Krishna. Many people do fasting on this day and kids dress-up like Lord Krishna and break Dahi Handi hanging at the top.

Youm-e-Azadi ( Independence Day of Pakistan)

This day holds significance for the constitutional bodies of Pakistan. This day is observed as the independence of Pakistan. On this day in 1947, Pakistan got free from the British Rule.

Independence Day in India

National Day of mourning (Bangladesh)

A day devoted to the remembrance of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. Also known as Father of the Nation for Bangladesh. August 13 marks the death anniversary of Bangabandhu, who was brutally slaughtered beside his other family members in the year 1975.

Victory over Japan Day (UK)

This day is observed in the representation of the victory of the UK over Japan in World War II. On this day Japan army abandoned in front of the UK army and the official notice of surrender is released in 1945.

Indonesian Independence Day

World Humanitarian Day

Sadbhavna Diwas

Sadbhavna Divas is celebrated on 20 August every year to honour the memory of our late Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi. In English, Sadbhavna means goodwill and bonafide.

 World Mosquito Day

This day is observed to informed of people of the diseases and the impacts provoked by a female mosquito named Anopheles. This day commemorates Sir Ronald Ross who discovered Malaria in 1897.

Indian Akshay Urja Day

The Birth Anniversary of former PM Rajiv Gandhi’s is observed as the Indian Akshay Urja Day. A Day which directs on the growth of renewable energy sources in India. This great day is observed on 20 August.

 Ganesh Chaturthi

Ganesh Chaturthi is also known as Vinaya Chaturthi is HONOURED among the Hindus on the appearance of Ganesha to earth from Kailash Parvat with his mother Goddess Parvati. The whole week is marked to observe this festival. People install Clay idols of Lord Ganesha in their homes or pandals and pray them by offering Modaks and sweets. 

23 AUGUST-

International Day for the Remembrance of the Slave Trade and its Abolition

This day is celebrated on 23 August annually to remind us about the struggle of the slave trade in memory of all peoples that is about the tragedy of the oceanic slave trade. It provides a chance to think about the historic causes and the ends of the slave trade.

 European Day of Remembrance for Victims of Stalinism and Nazism

This day is also known as Black Ribbon Day and this day is observed in the memory of victims of Stalinist, communist, fascist and Nazi regimes.

26 AUGUST-

Women's Equality Day
