Sustainable Development is the world’s blueprint for a better future for all on
a healthy planet. On World Population Day, we recognize that this mission is
closely interrelated with demographic trends including
population growth, ageing, migration and urbanization." -UN
Secretary-General António Guterres
A very special day for raising
awareness amongst the people worldwide.
Rising population day by day is a
big concern for the world. due to this perspective, every year world population
day celebrated worldwide on July 11 since 1989 by the Governing Council of the
United Nation. lots of people may not know about this most important day. this
issue does not harm any particular country but all the nations who are
establishing on the Earth. especially, developing countries like India and most
of the African country. The aim of this day is to focus the world’s
attention on the importance of population issues.
There is around 7.8 Billion
POPULATION exist right now according to 2018's data. World Population Day aims to increase people's awareness of
various population issues such as the importance of family planning, gender equality, poverty, maternal health and
environmental impacts on human rights concerns.
National population day in India is also observed annually on 11th of July. because the population of India is a big concern for all of us.
world population day 2020 Importance and awareness
Awareness of population, If you live a comfortable lifestyle
in a first world country like the United States and the United Kingdom, you
reasonably don’t think of population issues of having that much of an effect on
your daily life. However, the more people are added to the population, the more
power and food are needed to sustain all of them. It’s hard to keep up that food
and power production at the rate that the population is growing, and efforts to
do so are giving greatly to climate change, which affects you no matter where
you live on the whole earth.
As I said earlier if you are living
in a well-developed country you may not face the daily surviving life problem
issues, which a non developed country's people face in their daily life like
the population of India. And nowadays we saw many of example which affected by
rising population In India. other states' people stuck in another state due to
COVID-19 and most of them from Bihar and Uttar Pradesh. because lots of them migrated for labour work daily wages in other states. objectives of world population day, rising population threatening
the jobs curriculum in the country which is very harmful to each and every one.
so spread awareness in social media platforms like #populationday.
World Population Day certainly
reminds us to look at the current population and population issues that
influence how people live now. However, it’s really focused on the future, and
what efforts it will take to slow population growth. world population day activities like that, The most important thing
to think of is what the world will look like for your kids, grandkids,
great-grandkids, etc. if the population continues to grow at this rate. how we can imagine a safe world for our little kids?
Population issues directly affect
people in developing countries. For instance, did you know that people in very
poor countries have life anticipation that’s almost 20 years shorter than
people in rich, developed countries? How about that 1/3 of population growth is
due to unplanned pregnancies, which often happen when people are lacking
education and family planning services? world population day campaigns may help this issue, World Population Day is a good reminder
to step outside ourselves and focus on these important issues. ( from national today)
world population day 2020 History
The day was suggested by Dr
K.C.Zachariah in which population reaches Five Billion when he worked as Sr
Demographer at World Bank.
While press interest and general
awareness in the global population surges only at the increments of whole
billions of people, the world population increases annually by 100 million
approximately every 14 months. The world population reached 7,400,000,000 on
February 6, 2016; the world population had reached 7,500,000,000 at around
16:21 on April 24, 2017. The world population had reached 7,700,000,000 in the
year 2019.[1] In
November, UNFPA, together with the governments of Kenya and Denmark, will be
convening a high-level conference in Nairobi to accelerate efforts to achieve
these unmet goals. On World Population Day, advocates from around the world are
calling on leaders, policymakers, grassroots organizers, institutions and
others to help make reproductive health and rights a reality for all. (
from Wikipedia )
2018 marked the 50th anniversary of
a conference that focused on family planning. In 1968, the International
Conference on Human Rights was held. For the first time ever, family planning
was affirmed to be a human right. The Tehran Proclamation, adopted during the
conference, states that it is a basic right of parents to be able to decide on
the number and spacing of their children. ( from awareness days)
Five Billion Day was meant to
acknowledge the date that the world’s population reached five billion people,
which supposedly happened on July 11 of that year (hence the annual date). And
look how much the population has increased since then! Population issues cover
a lot of territories, from family planning to gender equality to environmental
impacts to human rights concerns.
World population day 2020 theme
According to UNFPA, the theme for
world population day 2020 is "Putting the brakes on COVID-19: how to
safeguard the health and rights of women and girls now"

closures and the increased needs of older people.
