Bhagat Singh Birthday: Birth Anniversary of Saheed Bhagat Singh

“Revolution is an inalienable right of mankind. Freedom is an imperishable birthright of all.” ― Bhagat Singh

Bhagat Singh Birthday: Bhagat Singh was born on 28 September ( some said on 27 September) 1907 in Banga, Lailpur district, presently in Pakistan. Around then his uncles Ajit Singh and Shwan Singh were supporting the freedom of India. Them two were individuals from Gadar Party run by Kartar Singh Sarabha. Both of these impacted Bhagat Singh. So he began hating the British from adolescence.

We remember Shaheed-Azam Bhagat Singh only as a revolutionary or a radical leftist who believes in violence for system change. But we forget that Bhagat Singh was also a thinker, poet, writer, and visionary, who conceived the slogan "Inklab Zindabad" by Hasrat Mohani. Our belief about this immortal martyr was based on the British record, which we did not attempt to test with our independent views.

He lived only for 23 years and a few months but the ideological maturity and determination he achieved at such a young age was unique. That is why this son of Mother India remained alive in the hearts of Indians for ages after ages at a very young age.

Pre Biography

Saheed Bhagat Singh, born at the home of Kishan Singh and Mata Vidyavati, tried to tie him at the age of 19 when he tried to tie him to marriage. Went and left behind him a letter to his parents, in which he wrote, "My life is devoted to a great cause and that purpose is the independence of the country." That is why I am not comfortable until then. Nor do I desire worldly pleasure that can tempt me. "

At such a youthful age, a youngster who has such a ton of confidence and determination won't be a standard youth. He had gotten away from his home simply in the wake of passing the twelfth and joined the revolutionary party of Chandrashekhar Azad. Regardless of whether he isn't extremely educated, whatever he wrote including "Why I am an atheist" naturally assumes his philosophical depths.

Such a Revolutionary

Bhagat Singh was highly influenced by Kartar Singh Sarabha and Lala Lajpat Rai. The Jallianwala Bagh massacre on 13 April 1919 had a great impact on the child mind of Bhagat Singh.

Quitting studies at the National College of Lahore, Bhagat Singh started participating in the non-violence movement run by Mahatma Gandhi in 1920, in which Gandhiji was boycotting foreign goods. At the age of 14, Bhagat Singh burnt books and clothes of government schools. After this, his posters started appearing in villages.

He, along with Chandrashekhar Azad, started the movement against the British. On August 9, 1925, the government treasury was robbed at a small station called Kakori from the passenger train which ran from Shahjahanpur to Lucknow. This incident is famous in history under the name Kakori Conspiracy.

Bhagat Singh, along with Rajguru, killed British officer JP Sanders, Assistant Superintendent of Police, in Lahore on 17 December 1928. Chandrasekhar Azad fully assisted him in this. He, along with revolutionary partner Batukeshwar Dutt, threw bombs and pamphlets to awaken the British government on 8 April 1929 in the auditorium of the then Central Assembly of British India on Alipur Road, Delhi.

Every countryman is aware of Bhagat Singh's sacrifice and supreme sacrifice for the independence of the country, but very few people will probably be familiar with the other aspect of his personality as a writer, thinker, philosopher and poet.

He fought a legal battle in court for two years, but not to defend himself but to publicize his cause. In prison, he wrote 4 books which were destroyed when sent out of jail. As evidence of his writings, only his prison diary was found, with notes, poems and satire. These were all written between September 1929 and March 1931. It was only this diary that his family found after his martyrdom as an intellectual safeguard which was later deposited in the National Museum.

In prison, Bhagat Singh and his comrades went on hunger strike for 64 days. One of his companions, Yatindranath Das, gave up his life in a hunger strike.

On 23 March 1931, Bhagat Singh and his two associates Sukhdev and Rajguru were hanged. Before going to the gallows, he was reading a biography of 'Bismil' which was published by Bhajan Lal Bookseller, a publisher of Sindh (a province of present-day Pakistan) from Art Press, Sindh.

But, The government of the country does not consider Bhagat Singh a martyr, while Bhagat Singh, who sacrificed his life for independence, lives in the heart of every Indian.
