Ganesh Chaturthi 2020 Falls on 22nd August. Ganesh Chaturthi Also Known as "Vinayaka Chavithi" or "Vinayaka Chaturthi" or "Ganeshotshav" is a big festival of India celebrated by Hindu over India. Ganesh Chaturthi is an Auspicious Festival which usually comes at mid-August to starting of September, Fourth Day of Bhadrapada month. It is the festival who observed after the Two grand celebrating festival "Raksha Bandhan" and "Krishna Janmashtami".
Some festivals in India are reflective of religious identity as well as region-specific culture. People of every religion are involved in these festivals in one way or the other. the festival of Ganesh Chaturthi celebrated with magnificence in Maharashtra is also celebrated throughout the country. This festival of Ganesh Chaturthi lasts for about ten days, due to which it is also called Ganeshotsav. In North India, Ganesh Chaturthi is also celebrated as the birth anniversary of Elephant-Headed Lord Shri Ganesha.
Lord Ganesha is known as the God of wealth, knowledge or Intelligence, wisdom and prosperity and the god of new beginnings, that's why most Hindus pray to him and seek his blessings before starting any significant work. Lord Ganesha also is known as Ashthavinayaka( name of 8 forms) --
Vakratunda, Ekadanta, Mahodara, Gajanana, Lambodara, Vikata, Vighnaraja and Dhumravarna.

Ganesh Ji's festival begins with the worship of Lord Ganesha by installing the Ganapati idol on the Chaturthi of Shukla Paksha of Bhadrapada month and keeping Bappa in the house for ten consecutive days and bid farewell to Bappa on Anant Chaturdashi called Ganesh Visarjan.
Ganesh Chaturthi is a huge celebration observed all over India. A wide celebration takes place in Maharashtra and some other states. In this day Ganesha's Idol established by the people in their house and pandal. The idol of Ganesha usually formed by natural clay or mitti. The pandal decorated by the colourful flower and banana's leaf.
After the 10 days ceremony, Bappa on Anant Chaturdashi takes farewell with the huge crowd. the people give Bappa a marvellous farewell in which they dancing on Bappa's song with full of joy. then after a long walk ceremony, Bappa's idol drowned in the water called Ganesh Visarjan.
Food is a big part of the Ganesh Chaturthi festival. various types of sweets are made especially for Lord Ganesha. After offering and puja, Prashad( sweets or ritual things) is distributed among family, neighbour and friends. Modak, til and jaggery laddu, besan laddu and motichoor laddu are a must for Lord Ganesha.

Lord Ganesha is the younger son of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. there are many stories behind the birth of Lord Ganesha. the most popular story is-
Once upon a time, Lord Shiva Go out for visit and Parvati was alone in the home. she wants to take a bath but nobody loyal there for guarding the door of the bathroom. then she created Lord Ganesha by her own scum and makes strong him with her magic power, put Ganesha on the door and instructed him don't allow anybody in the house. meanwhile, Lord Shiva returning to home but he didn't know about the Ganesha. when shiva tries to enter the house, Ganesha stops him in the door. shiva try to convince the child Ganesha that he is the owner but Natkhat Ganesha deny him. after the long arguing they started the fight, Shiva equally competed by the child Ganesha and this action hurts the ego of Shiva. He forcefully hits his side and cut down the neck of Ganesha. when Parvati comes out, she saw her son died, she got extremely angered then after shiva convinced her for regaining Ganesha's life. Shiva ordered his servants to bring the head of that child whose mother sleeping with her child by facing in west side and child facing in the east side. After a long searching mother elephant and child elephant found in that way.
